A public international urban planning and architectural competition was announced in 2010 for the building of the Center for the Promotion of Science in Belgrade. This is the response of us, then young architects, to the assigned topics.
The topic was the urban design of the block and the Center for the Promotion of Science itself. The block is organized so that the orthogonal orientation of the buildings follows the street pattern. The Center itself, located in the northwest of the block, was designed as an arch form consisting of several segments connected by an accented passage. The segments of the center are separated functionally, so that in one there is a planetarium, in another there are classrooms and offices, in the third there is a canteen and in the fourth there are halls intended for various events within the Center. The red footbridge that connects them is designed as a steel structure covered with glass. It initiates some parts of the Center and penetrates through others, forming a dynamic whole.
Year / 2010.
