Living room

The interior design of the living room with dining space and the entrance hall was done as part of the adaptation of a part of a single-story family house.

The main challenge of this living room is the lack of natural light. As the house is positioned on a narrow lot and the neighbors are in the immediate vicinity, there is no possibility to create additional window openings, due to the protection of privacy. For this reason, I suggested dismantling the existing ceiling and installing skylights between the rafters of the roof structure. This intervention was proposed only in the living room area, while in the dining area, where there is a large window facing the street, the ceiling could be retained.

The dining area is designed with elements of Scandinavian design, with characteristic dining chairs and a table. The ambiance is complemented by a large aquarium, the maintenance of which is a hobby of the owner of the space.

In the living room, the biggest emphasis is on the library, since the owners of the space are big fans of books. In the continuation of the library, closer to the window, there is a reading corner, with a comfortable armchair and a tabouret. With additional skylights, this space is bathed in natural light while lanterns of various sizes and floor lamps provide additional ambient lighting. The chest of drawers and shelves next to the TV are custom-designed, from the university. The color of this space is dominated by the color of sand with green accents.
